A new group of 1,920 prisoners are eligible to be released in accordance with presidential pardon terms, said Society Protection Sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Interior in a statement on Saturday.

The Interior Ministry announced Thursday granting an exceptional visit to inmates at correctional and rehabilitation centers nationwide on the occasion of Coptic Christmas from January 9 to January 24.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the committee asserted that it would continue its work to release more prisoners and merge them into the society.
The committees assigned to review files of prisoners nationwide announced that 1,270 prisoners deserve to be pardoned as they meet the conditions set for pardoning inmates.

All prisoners across Egypt were granted two exceptional visits during the Holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on Saturday.
