CAIRO - 29 March 2022: All prisoners across Egypt were granted two exceptional visits during the Holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin on Saturday.
The two visits will not be deducted from the number of ordinary visits for prisoners throughout their jail sentence. Anti-Coronavirus preventive measures will be abided during the visits, according to the Ministry of Interior.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Interior's keenness to uphold human rights values, implement the punitive policy with its modern approach, and provide various aspects of care for inmates. The move is also part of the care provided for inmates at correctional and rehabilitation centers to support them psychologically by giving them the opportunity to meet their families on various occasions.
The community protection sector in all governorates has recently witnessed a development process, confirming its commitment to implementing international human rights standards in the prison file, as it provides healthy food for prisoners and industrial, agricultural and productive projects from animal, pourtly and fish production farms.
In this regard, the Community Protection Sector was keen to visit the medical beds’ capacity, the number of dialysis machines and operating rooms to take care of the prisoners’ health, and new wards were developed for inmates with special needs and equipped in a manner that suits their health condition.
