CAIRO- 6 October 2024: Egyptian Ministry of Interior has released 3,610 inmates from rehabilitation centers in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 427 of 2024, issued by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

This decree pardons convicts who meet certain conditions in celebration of the October 6 victory anniversary.

Over the past decade, thousands of inmates have received presidential pardons during national and religious occasions, based on specific criteria.

Moreover, the Egyptian prosecution in recent years has released numerous pretrial detainees, while many convicts received presidential pardons following Sisi’s call for the National Dialogue and the reactivation of the Presidential Pardon Committee in 2022.

Since then, several political activistsjournalists, and other prominent individuals have been granted release through presidential pardons.
