The increase in chemical exports was driven by strong demand from international markets
Exports of fertilizer products registered $ 2 billion in the eight months, marking a rise of 53 percent in comparison with the same period last year.
The monthly report issued by the Chemical Industries Export Council showed that the sector's exports accounted for 21 percent of Egypt's total non-oil exports.
In a press release, Abu el Makarem said the strategy comes as part of the government's plan to increase Egypt's exports of all products to $100 billion.
Egypt's chemical exports are expected to hit $5.5 billion by the end of the year.
The sector is achieving positive progress from the beginning of this year, as it comes at the top of the sectors which increased its exports.
