Egypt's chemical industry exports hit $6.5B, with plastics accounting for 29%

CAIRO - 3 December 2024: Chairman of the Export Council for Chemical Industries, Khaled Abou El Makarem, announced that by the end of September 2024, Egypt's chemical sector exports reached approximately $6.5 billion, with plastics accounting for 29% of the total, around $2.6 billion. 
 
In his remarks at the Food Africa Exhibition, Abou El Makarem emphasized that exports are crucial for the industry's survival, driving quality improvement, development, and modernization of machinery. He also highlighted the significant role of the plastics industry in driving future growth within the chemical sector.
 
European markets are the primary destination for Egyptian chemical exports, with Turkey leading, followed by France, Italy, and Spain.
 
The 9th edition of the Food Africa, Fresh Africa, and Pac Process exhibitions opened at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center from December 3 to 5, 2024. 
 
The event spans 45,000 square meters and features 1,018 companies from 39 countries, with Turkey as the guest country. The exhibitions focus on food industries, agricultural products, dates, packaging, and food processing machinery, under the auspices of the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Industry, and Supply.
