CAIRO – 25 December 2024: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has advised the public to avoid walking near homes, billboards, and light poles as southwestern winds sweep across many parts of the nation, including Cairo, on Wednesday.

The EMA anticipates that these dusty winds will reduce visibility on some roads in the western regions of the country, as well as in areas of the Nile Delta, northern Upper Egypt, and cities along the Suez Canal.

Individuals with sinusitis or chest allergies are strongly advised to stay indoors and ensure that doors and windows are tightly closed. The EMA also recommends blocking air conditioner openings to prevent dust from entering homes.

For those traveling, the EMA urges caution, particularly on highways, due to reduced visibility.

In the North Coast, strong winds, with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, are expected to cause Mediterranean waves to rise 2 to 3 meters high in Alexandria and Matrouh.

Overall, the EMA forecasts cool daytime weather in Cairo, the Nile Delta, the North Coast, and northern Upper Egypt, while warmer conditions are expected in South Sinai and the southern parts of Upper Egypt.

During the night and early morning, chilly weather is anticipated nationwide, especially in northern Upper Egypt and Central Sinai, where frost may extend to crops.
