The 18th edition of the Sawiris Cultural Award kicks off at the AUC Tahrir Cultural Center on January 8
The Sawiris Cultural Competition is Sawiris Foundation’s most important means to support the Egyptian cultural scene.
Submitting participating forms will be held online only for the second year in a row.
The cancellation of the cultural award came in response to the state’s decisions to officially cancel all celebrations, conferences and gatherings in light of the global pandemic.
The Sawiris Foundation for Development has previously stated that it will organize an announcement and distribution ceremony for the 2020 Sawiris Cultural Awards in April 2021.
This postponement comes in response to the decision of the Egyptian Cabinet, and in the interest of the safety of attendees and those invited to the ceremony, in light of the second wave of COVID-19.
Sawiris Cultural Award organizing committee set August 24 to be the last day for submissions for the 13th edition.
