Ticket Prices
This is the first time the ministry has altered the prices since 2020, with the metro serving over 3.5 million commuters daily within the Greater Cairo area
El-Wazir described the decision as a delayed one that should’ve been taken ever since the inauguration of the third metro line, Adly Mansour.
The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced reducing prices of tickets of the new light rail transit (LRT) operating since July by 30-40 percent until the government moves to the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
Commuter who will ride the metro for nine stations or less should buy a ticket for LE5, while the ticket price will be increased to LE7 if the number of the station increased from nine to 16 stops.
Minster of transportation Hesham Arafat reiterated that there are no plans to apply increases in the Metro and railway tickets’ prices.
