CAIRO – 2 August 2017: Minster of Transportation Hesham Arafat reiterated that there are no plans to apply increases in the Metro and railway tickets’ prices in the upcoming period.
Arafat added that the ministry has shouldered the cost burden of the price gap that resulted from the increases of the fuel prices lately applied across Egypt.
The Transportation Ministry has lately been bustled with a number of national projects in a bid to improve the transportation infrastructure.
Currently, it is working on the re-introduction of the 700 kilometers railway of the Abu Tartur area at a total cost of LE 7 billion ($300 million), Minister of Transport Hisham Arafat said Monday.
Also, 20 new trains will operate in Upper and Lower Egypt, including 4 with air conditioning, the Egyptian National Railways Authority announced on Friday.
