The Egyptian Armed Forces released Sunday a statement highlighting the smuggling attempts thwarted by Border Guards on all strategic fronts.
The Egyptian Armed Forces have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition in a border area located in the western strategic direction.
The joint drills took place in the border guard fields training complex within the joint plan to back horizons of military cooperation between the armed forces of the two sisterly countries, the Egyptian Military Spokesman said in a statement on Friday.
“This comes in continuation of the Border Guards forces in facing smugglers and criminal elements and foiling plans and attempts that aim to threaten the stability of the society and harm the Egyptian national security,” a statement by the military spokesman read on Thursday.
According to a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces spokesman on Monday, the border guards managed to seize two four-wheel drive vehicles without license plates that are used by the terrorist elements for operations of smuggling and infirtlation.
The forces seized up to 240 arms, 120 magazines and 9,000 bullets.
The Armed Forces Spokesperson Tamer al-Refai posted Sunday a press release showcasing the efforts of the Border Guards over the past month.
Some 1,882 kg of hashish, 2,325 kg of bango and three kg of opium, as well as 185,000 narcotic pills were seized.
