The British Embassy in Cairo celebrated His Majesty King Charles III’s 75th birthday with a grand reception in the garden of the Ambassador’s Residence, with nearly 2000 invitees. This is the first King’s birthday celebration in almost 80 years since King George VI, father of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was on the throne.
British Ambassador in Cairo Gareth Bailey said that Egypt is a country of promising opportunities and a big market that attracts investment.
US Climate Envoy John Kerry said he hopes UK King Charles III reconsiders his decision regarding not going to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh city in November.
“Any suggestions his attendance was a point of disagreement is categorically untrue and that the decision not to attend was agreed in consultation,” Sky News understands from palace sources, adding “the idea the PM gives orders to the King is ridiculous."
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi voiced his sincere condolences in the name of Egypt and its people to the royal family, the British government and people over the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch of Britain, at the age of 96.
