British amb. says Egypt full of promising investment opportunities

CAIRO – 21 June 2023:  British Ambassador in Cairo Gareth Bailey said that Egypt is a country of promising opportunities and a big market that attracts investment.

Speaking in statements, Wednesday, on the sidelines of a ceremony organized by the British Embassy here to mark the birthday of King Charles III, Bailey said that Egypt’s distinguished geographical location and its Suez Canal are further assets.

The UK supports the development course in Egypt; the diplomat said, noting that British companies work in the field of water desalination, solar and wind energy and electric vehicles.

He stressed the importance of investment between the two countries, praising recent transparency measures, tax reforms and electronic customs adopted by Egypt.

Asked about the future of relations between Egypt and Britain, Bailey said it will focus on the economy and investment in clean energy, as well as cooperation in the face of regional crises.

He thanked the Egyptian government for its role in evacuating British nationals from Khartoum and called Egypt a stable oasis surrounded by crises.
