EGX flags in green for 2nd consecutive session, market cap. loses LE 6B

CAIRO – 26 March 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday in green for the second session in row. However, it lost LE 6 billion of market capitalization, amid Egyptian purchases.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 0.48 percent, or 47.31 points, to close at 9,912.98 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 increased 1.97 percent, or 25.83 points, to end at 1,339.16 points.

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched up 3.15 percent, or 29.31 points, to close at 959.42 points, and the broader index EGX 100 hiked 1.40 percent, or 14.29 points to 1,036.16 points.

Market capitalization lost LE 6 billion, recording LE 539.91 billion, compared to LE 540.51 billion in Wednesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 234.28 million shares, traded through 24,639 transactions, with a turnover of LE 673.84 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 159.56 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 4.27 million, and LE 155.29 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 6.8 million, and LE 183,626, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net buyers at LE 19.06 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 140.49 million, and LE 2.53 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 155.11 million.

Sabaa International Company for Pharmaceutical and Chemical, Medical Packaging Company, and Ceramic & Porcelain were top gainers of the session at 9.95 percent, 9.94 percent and 9.58 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Sues Canal Company for Technology Settling, Egyptian Arabian (cmar) Securities Brokerage EAC, and Rowad Tourism (Al Rowad) were top losers of the session by 9.87 percent, 9.81 percent, and 9.37 percent, respectively.

On Wednesday, EGX ended the session in green, as EGX 30 rose 0.97 percent, EGX 50 increased 2.41 percent, EGX 70 inched up 2.76 percent, and EGX 100 hiked 1.96 percent.
