FILE- Employees in the EGX following performance of the trading session
CAIRO – 9 August 2023: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed a slight increase during Wednesday’s session, adding around LE 974.32 million to the market capitalization, amid local and Arab purchases.
The benchmark EGX30 inched up 0.08 percent, or 14.74 points, to end at 17,763.63 points.
The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 rose 0.07 percent, or 2.62 points, to close at 3,592.24 points.
The broader index EGX 100 increased 0.08 percent, or 4.49 points, to 5,311.28 points.
Market capitalization gained around LE 974.32 million, recording LE 1.205 trillion, compared to LE 1.204 trillion in Tuesday’s session.
The trading volume reached 750.23 million shares, traded through 67,986 transactions, with a turnover of LE 2.37 billion.
Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 58.49 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 29.88 million, and LE 28.61 million, respectively.
Speed Medical, Egyptian Iron & Steel, and The Arab Ceramic CO.- Ceramica Remas were top gainers of the session at 5 percent, 5 percent and 4.64 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Belton Financial Holding, Cairo Oils & Soap, and ODIN Investments were top losers of the session by 4.68 percent, 4.10 percent, and 2.99 percent, respectively.
