During an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, Zarif was asked why it took the Iranian government three days to announce the plane was shot down.
Zarif has cancelled his trip and will not be attending the Davos Forum, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Monday.
“Our action was a legitimate self-defense and the United States should avoid assessing it based on illusions,” Zarif said.
