National Organization of Urban Harmony
On its official Facebook page, Egypt’s National Organization for Urban Harmony posted the ways of selecting the competing works.
This comes as part of the Ministry of Culture’s celebrations of the pioneer architects of the 1920’s.
The meeting ended with numerous recommendations that would preserve the Arab urban heritage and make it a source of inspiration for the design of new cities.
Within the ‘City Memory’ series, Egypt’s National Organization for Urban Harmony is preparing a documentary book to chronicle the architectural, historical and social life of the historic Garden City neighborhood in Cairo.
It is worth noting that the “Street Story” project has been implemented in 110 streets in Cairo, namely in Khedivial Cairo, Zamalek, Garden City and Heliopolis.
The "Lived Here" project aims to document the buildings in which the most important artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, poets, visual artists and historical figures lived.
430 signs have been posted in several other buildings so far, and that incident is the first of its kind.
Head of the National Organization for Urban Harmony Mohammed Abu Saada, revealed that the organization is currently preparing a "tour" project for the two initiatives, "Story of a Street" and “lived Here”.
