CAIRO- 14- November 2024: In a press conference held on Thursday, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly shed light on President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s speech at the extraordinary session of the Arab-Islamic Summit, which held in Riyadh on November 11.
Madbouly said that President Sisi affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of the Israeli aggression on Palestine and Lebanon, and called on international community to avoid double standards. The president also in his speech called for a decisive international intervention to stop this unprecedented and unjustified aggression against the people of Egypt and Lebanon.
He also stressed Egypt's adherence to the policies it has adopted during this period, said Madbouly, adding that opportunities are still available to resolve this problem to avoid the exacerbation of the crisis in the entire region.
The Prime Minister continued that meetings held by the President on the sideline of the summit are related to this matter.
“Egypt will always support the establishment of the State of Palestine and the cessation of aggression against the Lebanese people,” he said.
In his speech at the summit, President Sisi warned that "the future of the Middle East and the world is at a crossroad, and that the aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese territories imperils the entire world order."
He condemned the "systematic killing of civilians in Gaza Strip," underscoring that Egypt would "stand against all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian Cause, through whether the displacement of locals, moving them forcibly, or turning the Strip into an unlivable place." It is something that we will not accept under any circumstance," Sisi underscored.
The President also said that the only way to accomplish peace and stability, and "transition from a regional order whose essence is conflict and hostility into another grounded in peace and development, is by the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the borders of June 4, 1967 having as capital Eastern Jerusalem."
On the sidelines of the summit, President Sisi met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and affirmed Egypt’s support for the Lebanese people.
He also met with King Abdullah II of Jordan. Both sides reiterated their rejection to the forced displacement of Palestinians and the liquidation of the Palestinian Cause.
The summit issued a joint draft resolution, calling for massing the global support to freeze Israel‘s membership at the United Nations.
