The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry has expressed his surprise at the statements of some Turkish officials casting doubt on the legitimacy of elected Libyan bodies and communal entities’ requests of Egyptian intervention.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Thursday commented on possible Egyptian intervention in Libya, promising that “Egypt will intervene at the Libyans' request and will withdraw upon their order.”
On Wednesday night, a delegation of Libyan tribal sheikhs has arrived in Egypt from Benghazi, where the forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar are stationed, to discuss ways to end Turkey’s “blatant interference and violation of Libyan sovereignty.”
