Grand Renaissance Dam
Speaking at the 157th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers, Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s rejection of Ethiopia’s commencement of operating GERD last month unilaterally.
The meeting tackled the latest developments regarding the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam negotiations that failed to reach a binding agreement to fill and operate the dam.

Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew denied, Monday reports circulated by local media claims the country started already filling Grand Renaissance Dam, GERD since July 8.
In order to achieve the scope and main objective, the two main principles, “Cooperative, and Adaptive”, were agreed upon.
This meeting is a continuation of the meeting held in November in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the meeting held in Cairo in December.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt would hold talks with Ethiopa over the next two weeks to resolve the outstanding differences regarding the Grand Renaissance Dam.
Heightened disputes are likely to happen between Egypt and Ethiopia over shared water resources .
