The press statement added that such pumps are planned to become generalized in order to rationalize the use of underground water, and promote clean energy.
The President also gave directives to work on achieving rational management and safe use of groundwater in Egypt, in order to ensure the availability of this non-renewable water resource for future generations.
The Minister said that the depth of a well ranges between 20 and 30 meters and it serves about 100 families (about 800 individuals) in one area.

The Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources contracted with the Center of Studies and Designs for Water Projects (C.W.P.) to study Egypt’s aquifers in order to achieve sustainability in withdrawing water from underground water wells.
The agreement is part of a project, via which the FAO will provide technical support to the governments of Egypt, Jordan, and Morocco, at a cost of $276,000.
