Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has instructed the raising of minimum wages by 50 percent, reaching LE 6,000 starting from March, as part of an urgent social protection package.
Minimum wage has increased six times during the presidency of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, benefiting the employees of both the government and public sectors.
Under these directives, the minimum wage for government employees is set to range between LE 3,500 and LE 10,500.
The government also decided to allocate an exceptional allowance worth LE 300 for all state workers to cope with the rising cost of living, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced in a press briefing.
