Forced Displacement
Egypt has reiterated its warning about the dangers of conducting any military operation in the city of Rafah, which currently houses more than half of Gaza's 2.3 million population, most of whom are displaced by the Israeli war.
In comments to Reuters on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Germany on Friday: “It would be a disaster for the Palestinians ... a disaster for Egypt and a disaster for the future of peace.”
Ambassador Majed Bamya, the Deputy Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, stated that Egypt is the most eager to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
In an interview with CNN on Thursday, Shoukry added that any form of displacement whether internal or external is a violation, continuing “We will not become implicitly part of this violation and the Palestinians themselves don’t want to leave and they should not be forcibly displaced.”
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reiterated on Monday Egypt’s rejection of the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their lands as he received a delegation of US Senate members from the Democratic and Republican parties.
