The Abu Dhabi index was up 0.1 percent.
The Saudi index fell 0.7 percent in the first hour with all 12 banking stocks declining. Al Rajhi Bank slipped 1.3 percent.
Saudi Arabia’s stock market rose in early trade on Thursday, encouraged by strong global bourses and a slight rebound in oil prices, but most of the Gulf was sluggish because of mediocre corporate earnings.
Middle Eastern stock markets look set for further losses on Tuesday as the global bull market in equities appears to have gone into reverse.
