The Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayeb, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have emphasized the importance of ongoing Arab, Islamic, and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
The grand imam made the remarks as he addressed a UN Security Council session on “The Values of Human Fraternity in Promoting and Sustaining Peace” on Wednesday.
The Grand Imam clarified that Islam has no link to killing, destruction, and terrorism that have been perpetrated in its name, noting that Al-Azhar has repeatedly declared its rejection of these criminal acts.

Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb said Al-Azhar relations with the Vatican remain a model for spreading peace and tolerance and countering extremism, hate, wars, and conflicts.
The talks were attended by a number of Al Azhar officials and students, as well as by Prince Charles’s entourage.
