German Foreign Minister
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is to travel to the Middle East this weekend to discuss the crisis situation in the region, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said in Berlin on Friday.
Baerbock’s remarks were made in a meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Saturday, where they discussed bilateral cooperation and regional issues.
She would meet Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry as well as other members of the Egyptian government, said the German embassy in Cairo in a statement.
The diplomatic stand-off in the Gulf region between Qatar and its neighbors gives the entire region an opportunity to move together to step up its fight against terrorism.
