CAIRO-11 December 2021: Tunisia national team midfielder Ferjani Sassi hopes for a clash between Egypt and Tunisia in FIFA Arab Cup semi-finals.
Sassi, who spent three years in the Egyptian League playing for Zamalek, led Tunisia to the semi-finals after defeating Oman 2-1 on Friday thanks to a late goal from the team's captain Youssef Msakni.
"I want to face Egypt in the semi-finals because it will be a great game for everyone to watch and also because I have a soft spot for Egypt and it will be a great occasion to play against my former teammates." Sassi said.
Egypt and Jordan will face on Saturday, battling for a place in the semi-finals against Tunisia.
Sassi also discussed his future and the possibility of his return to the Egyptian League, he said "I have a running contract with Al Duhail and I am happy. But if I returned to the Egyptian League, I will return to Zamalek. I support the club and I always watch their matches."
Sassi's statements on his future played down the rumours that linked him with a move to Zamalek's arch-rivals, Al Ahly.
