CAIRO – 12 January 2021: In light of the suspension of major cultural activities to battle the spread of COVID-19 in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Ministers, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Culture Hisham Azmy said that since March 2020, the council has not stopped broadcasting its cultural activities online.

Hisham Azmy explained that the council has modified the rates of broadcasting seminars and events online during the past months, and that the live activity will gradually return.

Also, Azmy emphasized that the seminars and cultural evenings did not stop because “they had a great resonance”, as poets and intellectuals from Egypt, as well as Arab, African and European countries participated in those seminars. A schedule was prepared to broadcast these seminars and events online.

On a similar context, the Supreme Council of Culture called on the public to propose important Egyptian cultural symbols and events worthy of being celebrated to participate in creating the country’s cultural agenda.
