USA to host first-ever expanded Club World Cup

FIFA announced on Friday that the USA will host the first edition of the 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in 2025. 

 

32 teams from six continents will compete in the expanded edition of the FIFA Club World Cup one year before the 48-nation World Cup, which is set to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. 

 

“The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 will be the pinnacle of elite professional men’s club football, and with the required infrastructure in place together with a massive local interest, the United States is the ideal host to kick off this new, global tournament,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated. 

 

The competition will see the participation of some of the top teams in the world, including multiple UEFA Champions League, CAF Champions League and Copa Libertadores winners. 

 

Al Ahly has already booked a place in the aforementioned tournament as the winner of the CAF Champions League title in 2021 and 2023.

Urawa Red Diamonds

Manchester City

Chelsea

Real Madrid

Palmeiras

Flamengo

Leon

Monterrey

Seattle Sounders
