Al Ahly's Mohammed Abdelmonem celebrates scoring against Wydad Casablanca in 2023 CAF Champions League final

Al Ahly have enjoyed an extraordinary period after winning the 2023 CAF Champions League title against Wydad Casablanca on Sunday 11 June.

The Red Eagles brought the precious trophy home after losing it last season against the same opponent they defeated this season and they are ready now to resume their domestic journey.

Al Ahly will face the league-bottom Harras El Hodoud on Thursday night in Cairo and they hope to restore their position atop of the table as they are two points behind the leaders, Pyramids, but with six games in hand.

Al Ahly's players know that achieving the league title after a two-year hiatus will complete their historic season after winning four trophies and they are hoping for a good restart in the domestic league.

Al Ahly have collected 62 points and they are unbeaten in the league this season with 19 wins and five draws in 24 games while their opponents have only collected 20 points from 30 matches and any result but a victory tonight will confirm their relegation to the second division.

The Red Eagles will miss two of their starting players in the match as Mohamed Hany and Mahmoud Kahraba were not included in the team's squad for the game.

The game starts at 9:30 PM.
