Egypt's central bank, EGX announces Mawlid al-Nabi holiday

CAIRO – 28 October 2020: Egypt’s banks and bourse will be off on Thursday, Oct. 29, in celebration of Prophet Mohamed's birthday, according to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE)

 

Trading will be resumed effective Sunday, Nov. 1.

 

Mawlid or Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif is the observance of the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad which is commemorated in Rabi' al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar.
