Child Labor
On the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labor marking June 12, the Ministry of Social Solidarity issued a report on the efforts deployed by Egypt to combat the phenomenon.
The meeting aimed to present what has been accomplished in Egypt's "national plan", and to present the tasks and formation of the Child Labor Combat Unit.
The National Human Rights Strategy singled out a focus on children’s rights, reviewing the most prominent challenges facing the promotion of children’s rights, foremost of which was the need to raise awareness of children’s rights, fight violence against children, as well as the phenomenon of homeless children.
Although modern slavery is not defined in law, it is used as an umbrella term that includes practices such as forced labor.
Hassan pointed out that the most populated governorates out of the 27 are Cairo, Giza, Sharqia, Daqahlia, and Beheira.
