The project comes as part of efforts to develop St Katherine, which lies in the middle of a mountain range, the most famous of which is Mount Musa, on which God Almighty spoke to his Prophet Moses, a Cabinet statement read.
Egypt has worked on implementing 462 housing, development, road, electricity, facility and services projects in Sinai and the Suez Canal cities worth billions of pounds, Egyptian Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar said.
This comes as part of the second phase of the President's initiative "A Decent Life" to develop the Egyptian countryside.
The lands are sized between 25 to 56 feddans each with investments worth LE 30 billion, the minister said.
Up to 1,149 villas are being built in the city, he added. The minister also visited New Damietta City to inspect other housing projects.
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said the government upped the proposed investment budget for the coming fiscal year to LE 230 billion against LE 150 billion in the current fiscal year.
