Electrical Interconnection
Egypt and Jordan signed several agreements on electricity, logistical transport, the industrial integration initiative, and the expansion of electrical interconnection capacity mechanisms.
Mabdouly’s comments were given in a meeting with Iraqi counterpart, Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani, who paid Egypt a quick visit for discussing a number of files of common interest were reviewed, according to a statement from the Egyptian cabinet.
The 14-year funding will be guaranteed by the Swedish Export Credit Agency, and financed by the Swedish Export Credit Corporation.

The contracts, which were signed simultaneously between Riyadh and Cairo, included contracts with three consortiums of international and local companies to implement the connection project, which has a capacity of 3,000 megawatts, with a 500 kV HVDC technology.
Negotiations with Saudi Arabia, Gulf countries, Greece and Cyprus are underway.
