Reliable sources have disclosed that the widely respected journalist Diaa Rashwan, who currently serves as the head of the State Information Service, is edging closer to becoming the new head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR).

SCMR said in its statement that, under its constitutional and legal mandate, it issued a code for media coverage of the election that complies with the standards required by international bodies and organizations, including those of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Code of Conduct for monitoring elections in the European Union. Also, “we are guided by democratic models in various countries of the world,” it affirmed.
