SCMR bans homosexuals from appearing in media

CAIRO - 30 September 2017: Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) banned Saturday homosexuals and their slogans from appearing in the media out of respect for the values of the society.

Chairman of the SCMR Makram Mohamed Ahmed said in a statement that the decision does not mean that the SCMR fears dealing with homosexuality, on the contrary it is a disease which must be addressed and cured.

Ahmed warned homosexuals against appearing in the media, whether print, audio or visual media, unless they want to admit their wrongdoing and unacceptable behavior and repent.

He underlined the media's role in spreading awareness of the danger of this disease and reasons behind its spread, and not to promote for it.
