Eliyahu Hanavi Synagogue
On the occasion of the opening of the renovated the Jewish temple in Alexandria, Egyptian veteran archaeologist Zahi Hawass said that the Jewish temples are important part of Egypt's rich heritage.
Eliyahu Hanavi is one of the oldest Egyptian synagogues.It was established in 1354, but was desecrated when Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign shelled it to create a French military base in the Ottoman territories.
