Abdul Rahman further highlighted that the armyworm poses the greatest threat to corn crops in Egypt, with its speed reaching up to 100 km per day. The female insect lays approximately 2,000 eggs during its lifespan, which lasts about 30 days in the summer and up to 90 days in the winter.
He added that the release included 224,000 tons of corn, worth about $81 million, and about 60,000 tons of soybeans, worth about $45 million, as well as feed additives worth about $15 million.
This amount of corn and soybeans released during the period from March 3 to March 9, he added in the statement, noting the released amount included 119,000 tons of corn, worth about $43 million, and about 47,000 tons of soybeans with about $ 35million, as well as feed additives worth about $3 million.
