Martinez believes catastrophic consequences could occur if the season isn’t completed

CAIRO-23 April 2020: Belgium’s manager Roberto Martinez believes that European leagues should be completed in order for the clubs to avoid “catastrophic consequences.”

Speaking to BBC Sport Wales, Martinez believes that the only way for clubs to avoid harsh financial problems is to continue the 2019/20 football season.

"You need to make sure that everyone is aware there is a big risk of sending big institutions, institutions of football that have been alive for over 100 years, into a very difficult financial position,” Martinez told BBC.

Additionally, Everton’s former manager [Martinez] believes that UEFA and FIFA took the right decision by postponing international football to allow the completion of the football leagues.

"This is a situation where you have got an invisible enemy and we all have to be together," Martinez added to BBC.

Lastly, Martinez stated the importance of finishing European leagues saying the consequences would be “catastrophic” due to the huge amount of income which football clubs would lose because of the TV rights.

Martinez is considered to be one of Europe’s elite football managers who led Belgium to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup. During his managerial career, the 46-year-old managed 478 games where he won in 203, drew in 125 and lost in 150 games.
