Euro 2020 has been postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Norweigan FA.
“UEFA has decided to postpone Euro 2020 to be played on June 11 to July 11 of next year,” the Norwegian FA posted on their official Twitter account.
The decision came after the Union of the European Football Associations [UEFA] held talks over a video conference that involved the 55 members of the association, according to Sky Sports and the BBC.
On a similar note, several countries such as Spain, Italy, France, and England suspended their sports competitions due to the coronavirus being widespread among around 132 countries and territories.
Such postponement of Euro 2020 gives an opportunity for the completion of the majority of the European leagues in the summer especially with many leagues being in the last fixtures of the competition.
Ever since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Wuhan, China on 1 December 2019 around 188,000 people were infected and about 7,500 people died because of the disease.
