CAIRO – 7 October 2017 : Ghana national team manager Kwesi Appiah arrived on Thursday night to the Ugandan capital to play against Uganda on Saturday in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers – without five of Ghana’s biggest stars.

“We are on a building process for a new team; we are here for business. In football, anybody can win, draw or lose,” Appiah told Ghanaian press on Friday.

Ghana misses their captain Asamoah Gyan, Christian Atsu, Jonathan Mensah, Harrison Afful and Frank Acheampong.

“We still have hopes of qualifying to the World Cup. I told the players to fight and win to prove that they deserve to represent the national team in the future,” Appiah said on Friday to kooora.com

Appiah added, “We will play to win our remaining games against Uganda and Egypt.”

Ghana faces Uganda on Saturday at Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.

Egypt tops Group E with nine points, two points more than Uganda. Ghana sits at third place in the group with five points, while Congo sits at the bottom of the pool with one point.
