Global aviation movement may return to normal by 2023: Egypt’s Minister

CAIRO – 3 September 2020:  “In optimistic estimates, global aviation may return to its normal by 2023, while the pessimistic indication says it could be in 2026,” said Minister of Civil Aviation, Pilot Mohamed Manar.

 

 

In media remarks with 9:00 PM talk show on the state-owned T.V. on Wednesday evening, Manar said that that the global air traffic is severely affected by the COVID-19 and it is resumed very slowly, expressing his hopes that the air traffic will return to normal before these estimates.

 

 

Due to the COVID-19 impacts, Egypt suspended the air traffic on March 19, 2020. However, the international movement resumed on July 1, 2020, with applying high standards of health and hygiene measures at the airports.

 

 

Meanwhile, the Russian government announced resuming flights with Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the Maldives, after suspension over the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Reuters reported.

 

 

 

A government order published on Thursday showed that the Russian government said it had authorized three flights a week to Cairo, as well as two flights a week to Dubai and to the Maldives’s Velana International Airport.
