CAIRO - 14 July 2020: Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said Tuesday that 990 stranded Egyptians in the Gulf country flew home on board six flights.

Three flights carrying 495 Egyptian nationals left for Cairo, two flights carrying 310 Egyptians for Sohag and one flight with 185 passengers on board left for Assiut, DGCA's statement added.

The flights are operated by Kuwait Airways, Jazeera Airways K.S.C, FlyEgypt and Air Arabia Egypt company, the statement added.

The Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday July 9, said that 1,015 stranded Egyptians left the country back home on board of six flights.

The civil aviation directorate said in a press release that the stranded Egyptians left for Cairo, Sohag and Assiut.

Up to 580 passengers left for Cairo on four flights, 145 others left for Sohag on one other flight and 290 others left for Assiut, added the statement.

Egypt suspended international aviation on March 19 as a protective measure against COVID-19 repatriating - on exceptional flights - since then around 30,000 Egyptians stuck abroad. The beginning was with citizens who were in visits or temporary stays. Later, authorities have been bringing home expats who lost their jobs, particularly in Gulf countries.
