Min. orders beaches closure over coronavirus fears

CAIRO, March 28 (MENA) - Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi ordered on Saturday the closure of all beaches nationwide until further notice to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

In a press statement, the minister said the decision came as a result of videos posted on social media for vacationers gathering on Alexandria and Ain Sokhna beaches.

The minister ordered governors to coordinate with security directors to allow cleaning companies to remove garbage from streets in light of the government's decision to impose a curfew for two weeks amid coronavirus fears.
