CAIRO - 24 June 2019: The Indian Embassy in Cairo celebrated the fifth International Day of Yoga on Thursday in Zamalek’s El Horreya Public Park. The event was attended by 3,000 Yoga lovers and a number of diplomats.
Ambassador of India Rahul Kulshreshth thanked all attendees and the Cairo Governorate Municipal Authority for facilitating all procedures needed to hold the event. A mass Yoga class was led by an Indian Yoga instructor. That was followed by a ceremony to honor individuals who contributed to the spread of Yoga in Egypt and the winners of the Yoga photography contest.
A day later, celebrations took place in Ismailiyah. The Indian ambassador and Menia Governor Qasim Mohamed Hussein attended the closing of the Intentional Day of Yoga celebrations in the governorate on Sunday.
On December 11, 2014, the United Nations proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.
