CAIRO – 23 May 2017: The Egyptian Food Bank (EFB) plans to provide 60 million iftar meals during Ramadan, head of EFB Bank Niazy Salam said Monday on ONtv channel.
The current economic crisis and inflation has significantly increased citizens’ sufferings, Salam said.
Salam pointed out that the bank does not accept wasted food donations but accepts extra food with good quality. He recounted that the highest quality standards are applied on selecting the food delivered to poor families.
He pointed out that the bank distributes meals to more than 200 thousand families monthly. He noted that the bank operates in 29 countries, including Arab countries and countries in Asia and South America.
It is worth mentioning that the EFB makes plans every Ramadan to cover the needs of the largest number of poor families. Thousands of poor Egyptian families totally rely on EFB’s iftar meals. EFB works to raise awareness about food waste and developing food programs to end hunger in Egypt.
