CAIRO – 4 August 2020: Cairo and Alexandria Opera Houses will be organizing two concerts for Baghdadi Big Band, led by maestro Magdy Baghdadi, on August 7 at Cairo Opera's Fountain Theater at 8 p.m., and on August 9 at Sayed Darwish Theater in Alexandria’s Opera.
The program includes a collection of the most famous international jazz works, along with a selection of Arabic music compositions recast in jazz music.
It is noteworthy that Baghdadi graduated from the Cairo Conservatory in 1982 and obtained a diploma for playing the trumpet, in addition to a PhD degree from the High School of Music and Art Production in Germany.
Since 1990, Baghdadi has been a professor of the trumpet instrument in Cairo Conservatory. He held the position of the first Trumpet player at the Cairo Symphony Orchestra from 1983 to 1997.
Baghdadi founded his band, Baghdadi Big Band, in 1996. It is the first Egyptian band to specialize in presenting Western music of the 1920s to the 1940s. The band includes a group of the most skilled and distinguished players on various musical instruments.
Baghdadi Big Band participated in many specialized international festivals and presented a group of successful concerts in various cultural places in Egypt.
Through his distinct performances, Baghdadi received the appraisal of the audience and critics. He also served as head of the Artistic House of Music, Opera and Ballet.
