“The Music of Silence” to screen at Zamalek Cinema

CAIRO – 29 April 2018: A special screening of the biographical drama "The Music of Silence" will take place at Zamalek Cinema on May 1.

Directed by Michael Radford, "The Music of Silence" is based on an autobiographic memoir of world-famous Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, who was born with an eye condition that eventually left him blind yet didn't stop him from going on to sell 80 million records worldwide. In the film, Bocelli's character is named Amos Bardi, who is portrayed by "Game of Thrones" star Tony Sebastian. The story begins with Bardi’s birth, starting life nearly blind thanks to glaucoma, which eventually progresses until he is completely blind by the time he is 12 years old.



Though his mother despairs, Bardi himself finds hope through pursuing music, thanks to a naturally talented singing voice. His voice needs practice and honing, and an embarrassing experience when his voice cracks while singing for a wedding almost threatens to snuff out this gift. However, Bardi does not give up, speaking back to the remarkable true dedication Bocelli needed to overcome the odds and become a star. Eventually, he meets the perfect teacher, a maestro portrayed by Antonio Banderas, who sees the raw gift but knows a lot of work is needed to hone it into true talent. Thanks to his love of God, his family and music, Bocelli overcame everything.
