CAIRO – 23 November 2017: Drama movie ‘”Luther” will screen at Goethe-Institute in Alexandria on Wednesday, showing the life of the late reformer Martin Luther.
Directed by Eric Till, the film portrays the psychological development of Luther from a self-doubting monk to a leading figure of the Protestant Reformation movement. The film highlights the different stages in Luther’s life, from being part of the church, working as a college instructor and preacher in Ventenburg City, witnessing a demonstration by peasants and the support of the German ruler for Protestantism.
The film is set in the early 16th century, showing the community’s customs and traditions and sheds light on the relationship between church and state.
The two-hour film was co-produced in 2003 by Germany and the United States and is translated into German and Arabic.
