Children of Heaven to screen at Cinema Dekka

CAIRO – 20 October 2017: The Iranian family drama “Children of Heaven” (1999) will be showing at Cinema Dekka on Tuesday, October 24 starting from 7 p.m..

From director Majid Majidi, the film follows two Iranian siblings, older brother Ali and his younger sister Zahra, who live in poverty in the city of Tehran. One day, Ali accidentally loses Zahra’s only pair of shoes, and the two secretly try to think up solutions without telling their parents.

While Zahra wears Ali’s sneakers to school, Ali tries various methods in order to find a new pair for his sister, including participating in a race.

A kindhearted look at happiness between family members even in harsh poverty, Children of Heaven was well-received in both Iran and overseas, having been nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
