Tourist flocked to the Abu Simbel Temples to enjoy the Solar Alignment Phenomenon - Min. of Tourism & Antiquities
CAIRO – 23 October 2022: The archaeological area in Abu Simbel witnessed the start of operation of a number of environmentally friendly electric cars to transport Egyptian visitors and tourists inside the archaeological area.
This was stated by Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mustafa Waziri, pointing to the keenness of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities to operate these cars to facilitate the transportation of visitors who were keen to visit the archaeological area to witness the Sun Illumination Phenomenon of Ramses II’s statue, which was witnessed by nearly 4,000 Egyptian and foreign tourists. The sun illuminated the face of Ramses II’s statue on October 22 at 5:53 a.m.
Waziri stated that providing the archaeological area with these cars comes within the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, according to a specific time plan, to develop and raise the efficiency of visitors’ services in all museums and archaeological sites nationwide, especially those open for visits, to provide all means of availability and improve the experience of visitors during their visit while simultaneously converting the Tourism Sector into an environmentally friendly sector.
